I’ve adopted my life motto from the words of Annie Dillard, who says, “How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.” I try my hardest not to get ahead of myself and to live life one day at a time, traveling lightly, as G.K. Chesterton advises. I tend to read too many books at one time. I’m totally guilty of downloading more podcasts than I could ever listen to. I collect cookbooks and read them like one would read novels Weird, I know. I love black and white stripes and all things yellow. I always say yes to sprinkles. I believe coffee is best black, and that if it isn’t then it’s not good coffee. Second to the french press, but nonetheless essential in my kitchen, is my microplane zester; because freshly grated nutmeg makes french toast so. much. better. I always want breakfast, no matter what time it is—and I never know what time it is.
